Tom completed his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor in 2006. After 7 year of industrial experience in reliability engineering and applied Non-Destructive Evaluation research, Tom began his graduate studies at ISU as a distance education student in January 2013, and then relocated to Ames in Summer 2014. Tom is pursuing his Ph.D. in engineering mechanics and investigating ultrasonic structural health monitoring for high temperature corrosion applications.
